Five years five months

 Hello world!

A little while ago I rode my bike on the football pitch.  I did it for a long time with my dad.  When I did something wrong, my dad kept pushing me;  and when I did it right, my dad caught me.  I can almost ride it by myself.

I went to the play park;  I went on lots of things, and I went on the zip line. 

I went to London;  I did exciting things like games, stuff, jigsaws, and then I went back home.  I went to old McDonalds and got a Yoshi toy and a cheeseburger and an ice cream milkshake.  I had fish and chips in London too.  I saw my Nanny and Granddad and Auntie Pam.

I was playing Police House on the old chicken house, and I fell down and hurt my knee and got straw in it.  My mummy washed it out, but it hurt so bad my tummy felt sick and I thought I might die.  After I had a plaster on I felt better.

Five years four months

Hello world!

There was a fun fair at the playing field next to my school and I went to it two times.  I rode the teacups, the ghost train, and the mini roller coaster;  I went on the big bouncy slide, I hooked a duck two times for prizes (silly string and a bow and arrow), climbed the pirate ship, threw a basketball at the hoop (I missed), bounced on the trampoline, and shot a paintball gun at a target.  I ate an ice cream, and some blue candy floss. 

It was really fun.  The second day I went to the country park next to the fun fair, and caught some mini beasts with a net, and coloured a dragonfly picture.

After that, I caught a big fish with a fishing pole at the pond.  The man put the maggot on the hook, then we cast the line out into the water, and when the float dipped down, we pulled the pole up and there was a fish on it!  The man got his net and caught it.  Then he put it back.  Afterwards, I told the lady at the mini beasts tent all about it.  She was very impressed.

Now my school is on holiday for summer;  I will be in Year One when I go back to school.  I saw my new classroom and met my new teacher before the holiday;  her name is Mrs Cluweth.

Five years two months

Hello world!

When I see someone I haven't met for a long time, I remind my mummy that she should tell them I'm five now.  But I told the library lady myself.  At the library I choose my books, then I give my card to the lady, and then she lets me stamp the date on the books.  I even stamp my mummy's books.  I'm very careful.  At one library there's a machine for books, but no stamp.  I like using the machine too;  I can push the buttons.

I told my mummy I want to learn to knit a jumper.  She showed me how to knit, and I knit a little bit of a flannel, for washing my face in the bath.  I did six stitches all by myself, and my mummy finished it so I could use it right away.  I like it a lot;  it's green like Green Lantern.

When I choose which fruit to eat, I count out like this:

"Eeny miny mo;
Put the baby mo.
Saxophone and me;
Put the baby mo."

Then I pick the one I want.

I helped my dad mix up clay and perlite for our rocket.  Rockets make fire and go into space, but my dad said ours doesn't go into space.  We bought the perlite from a special shop, and when we mixed it up it was sticky wicky icky.  I helped my mummy squash it down and got it all over my hands.

Five years one month

Hello world!

I had a birthday and I'm five.  I told my mummy when all the children in my class are five, we go to a new class with a new teacher.  Right now I'm in Upper Foundation and my teacher is Miss Fletcher, and my best friend is Alfie, but he's kind of naughty.

We had Easter holiday with no school for two weeks.  I went to London and saw my cousins Matthew, Grace (who are both a little bigger than me but not much), and Poppy and John Paul (who are babies).  I coloured and drew pictures and played lego with Matthew and Grace.  And I ate lots of crisps and chocolate.

Also during Easter holiday I went to the beach.  I walked very far on the sand, skipped stones and shells on the water, and collected some in a bag to take home for an art project.  After we had a picnic on the beach, I had ice cream, and we walked some more and wrote our names in the sand.  On the walk back, my mummy and daddy showed me how the bricks on the path made mazes for kids to walk on.  I really liked those mazes, and some of them were hard to get to the end;  some were easy, though.  After all that walking we had fish and chips from a shop.  I love fish and chips.  Before we got in our car to drive home I rode on a Viking ship ride that went up and down like a huge swing.  I rode it by myself without help. 

I took all the money out of my money box and made a beautiful design with it.

I also love to build my lego models.  I can follow the instruction books myself, and I also come up with new designs.  I like to make cars the best.  I also make buildings like train stations, and castles (like Howl's Moving Castle, with legs).

I still like Batman and Superman, but my new best superhero is Green Lantern.  My bedroom is painted green like him and I have lots of toys of him, and a Green Lantern ring.  Twice I was at a birthday party and got my face painted with the Green Lantern mask.

We have new chicks at our house.  They live in our kitchen in a little chick house.  I named the biggest one Chickadee;  she has funny short feathers growing all over her.  When they grow up they will live in the garden with the other chickens.  I like to stroke them and feed them food from my hand.

Four years eight months

Hello world!

My mummy and I grew a pumpkin in our garden.  I helped water it sometimes.  We grew another one, but we cooked it already.  We're going to make pumpkin pie.

I like to practise riding my bike;  I push with my feet and glide.  I can put on my helmet and pads by myself.  One time I rode my scooter to school, but usually my mummy and I just walk.  It's really muddy in the field, so we walk on the path which is only a little muddy.  I wear wellies.

We had a bonfire and I helped put wood on it.  My mummy had a big stick to poke the bonfire.  I also had my own stick for poking;  then I found another stick.  My stick said to my mummy's: "look, mummy stick:  I have a sister;  she has two legs!"  Then I showed my mummy how the sister stick could walk.  The brother stick could only hop.

I still like to sneak into my mummy and daddy's bed at night, but I sleep most of the night in my own bed.  I'm going to get a new room soon, that used to be my daddy's room.  He's making a new room in the attic and I'm helping.  Then I'll get his old room, and I'll get to play in the attic too.  I said that I want my new room to be painted purple or black.  I like black the best.

Four years seven months

Hello world!

We got four new chickens and I named them all.  There's Red, Brown, Blue, and Moldy.  We also got lots of fish for our pond.  I told the fish all about my holiday to Belgium, and also what I did at school.  I feed them fish food, too.  I helped my daddy and mummy dig the pond, and I like to do pretend fishing with a stick.

Today I said to my mummy, "I want to garden.  What can I plant?"  So together we planted some lettuce and other salad.  I sat down on my gardening gloves.  I still like to eat carrots and peas from our garden.  And I like to eat mint, too. 

I'm learning letters at school.  Then I'll be able to read.  I can read and type some words already, like mum, dad, bus, car, and Franklin.  I also like to spell words with the magnets on the fridge.  I have a little sign for my cars that says KEEP OUT, and I found all the right magnets and spelled it by myself.

I told my mummy:  "You are Lois and I'm Clark Kent.  Lois?"
My mummy said, "Yes Clark Kent?"
"Did you know," and I unzipped my hoodie and showed her my shirt, "I'm Superman!"

Four years six months

 Hello world!

 

Now that I'm four, I go to school all day.  I have a uniform and I put it on myself, but my dad tied my tie.  Every day I walk to school with my mummy, change out of my boots and into my shoes, hang up my things on my peg, and go to my class.  Most of my friends from nursery school are in my class, and I get to see my old nursery teachers a lot because they're just next door to my new class.  

I really like playing outside at school, and eating lunch in the hall.  My teacher calls it school dinner, though.  I have my own lunchbox with a blue kitten on it, and I eat things like ham, cucumber, olives, cheese, and grapes.  

When school is over, my mummy comes to the class door and then we walk back home.  I hang up my things at home--I have my own peg at home too--and I change out of my uniform into my normal clothes. 

I really like Superman and Batman.  I have a lego man of both of them, and I sometimes wear my Halloween costume cape to be them;  it has a red side for Superman and a black side for Batman.

Four years five months

Hello world!

We have a conker tree.  I like to open the conkers by stepping on them, or smashing them with a brick.  I also like to smash snails, but not always.  Sometimes I watch them crawl and touch them gently with a stick to make their eyes move.  I only smash snails in our garden though, not anywhere else.

I like to stroke our chickens, but they only like it a little bit.  Guinea lets me stroke her a couple times, and so does Scary, but then they walk away.  I told my mummy, "the chicken said, 'thank you, no more strokes please!'"  Scary really likes my shoes.  She always comes to me and looks at them.  She's not allowed to peck them, though.  I also like to turn over stones and boards for chickens, so they can eat the bugs and slugs underneath.  There was a really big slug on one board, and I told my mummy, "chickens only have small mouths, so they can't eat it."

On our walk there are lots of blackberries now.  I eat lots, even if they're sour.  There's also other things I like but aren't ready yet:  apples, plums, nuts.  Also sloes, that I liked when I was little;  I'll have to try them again this year to see if I still like them. 

I can write my whole name, first and last, and also type it.  I can spell it out loud too.  I really like to do colouring books with my mummy.  We have two good ones and we both colour.  I also love to cut out shapes with scissors, and make crafts.  My friend Angela from London gave me some finger puppet kits and badge kits, and I made them all by myself, with only a little help.

Four years four months

Hello world!

My dad takes me to the cinema to see a movie sometimes.  I call it the "similar".  I saw Frozen, and I have the CD.  When we drive in the car, I like to listen to Frozen.  I tell my mummy and daddy which part to sing, but I always sing Elsa's songs.

I ate the cherries on our cherry tree.  They were  kind of sour, but I really like them anyway.  I helped my mummy pick them for our freezer too.  I also like to eat them frozen.

I finished my school now, and I get to go to big school in six weeks.  I met my new teachers and saw my new classroom;  it's right next door to my old classroom, and most of my friends will be in my class.  I will go to school for a whole day, not just mornings.  It's so exciting!

I can play "Twinkle twinkle" and "ABCD" on the piano all by myself, and sing along too.  My dad got me two kazoos and we can play them together.  I'm very good at playing kazoo.  Sometimes my mummy plays my favourite piece on the piano, "Pictures at an Exhibition," and I will play my drum with her.

My favourite toy to play with is lego and duplo;  I like to build things and play with the little people.  I make them talk to each other and play games.  I built a car shop and the people all bought cars and went racing.

Four years three months

Hello world!

I went to Belgium with my mummy and daddy and my gramma and grandpa.  We stayed at a lady's house named Katrine.  The two things I remember the best:  the street sweeper and the rubbish trucks.  I also went to the beach and played in the sea and built a sandcastle, and I ate ice cream. 

 I like Belgium a lot.  We drove our car onto the train and went through a long tunnel and listened to the Hobbit on a CD.  When we drove home though, I puked all over:  I puked on me, on the car, and on my daddy's jammies.  It was so yucky.  My dad had to stop driving so I could get new clothes on.

There were lots of good parks to play in Belgium, too.  One had some strawberries growing.  At Katrine's house there was a big cherry tree and I ate lots of cherries.  My cherry tree at my house has cherries now, too.  There are cherry trees at our park on my walk to school;  they're kind of sour but I still like them.  Sometimes I swallow the seed. 

I said to my mummy in a deep growly voice:  "I'm a man!" and then I told her in my normal voice: "I'm Franklin again."

Four years two months

Hello world!

We have a big green frog in our frog pond.  I showed it to my friend Kostek, who's three.  I showed him our chickens too.  I like to help my mummy get the eggs from our chickens, and I eat them.  I eat eggs every day for breakfast.

I got my hair cut;  I saw myself in the mirror after, and I had a good long look.  I told my mummy:  "I'm not Franklin any more.  I'm a different boy!"

I went to the children's centre on Thursday.  I asked my mummy every day if it was Thursday yet, and then finally it was!  I played with all the toys and did all the activities and saw all the kids.  Madeline from my school was there, too, but most of the kids were just babies.  After playing we had snacks:  my favourite.  Then when we went home, I said to mummy:  "I'm going to read my book and have a rest."  I read my book then laid down on the couch and had a nice refreshing sleep.  I don't usually have a sleep during the day, unless it was a super fun day.

Sometimes I make my animals talk to each other, or my cars.  I made my egg talk to my daddy.  It said, "I think Franklin wants to eat me now."

Four years, one month

Hello world!

I know about a lot of things.  If I don't know a word, I ask what it is.  I know most words, though.  I count past twenty, and I can sing "ABCD" all the way through.  I write some of my name, and I can recognise it written down.  I really like rhymes.  I told my mummy: "Chloe rhymes with clothing."

My mummy planted a pea shrub out back;  it's such a funny word, whenever I see it I yell:  "pea shrub! pea shrub! pea shrub!"  I love gardening.  I pick daffodils for people, and I really want to open up the tulips to see what's inside.  I pick my own broccoli and eat it, too;  it's delicious.

I'm also good at chores;  I always turn on the washing machine, and I like to help turn on the microwave.  I put my own clothes in the laundry basket, and I help my mummy hang them up.  I take my own plate to the sink, and I'm very good at setting the table. 

I ask my mummy when my daddy is coming home every day.  I say:  "is daddy coming through the door today?"  If he is, then I tell my mummy:  "when he comes, he'll say Hello Franklin!"  Sometimes he doesn't come till I'm in bed.  But sometimes he comes and he puts me to bed.  Before, we read Winnie the Pooh at bedtime.  Now we've finished and we're reading The Hobbit.  Bilbo forgot his handkerchief, and then Gandalf was missing.  My dad does all the funny voices, and my mummy does them too.

Our chicken Speckles was feeling very bad, and then she died.  We buried her in a hole.  Other chickens are buried there, too.  I like to look at the stones.  Our dog Beauty died, too.  I still remember.  My mummy was feeling bad, and I asked, "mummy, are you feeling yucky like the chicken?"

Four years old

Hello world!

I'm four.  I go to nursery school every day for 3 hours;  my teacher is Mrs Thornton and I call her Mrs Yornton.  My best friend at school is named Corey and I also play with Savannah.  At home I play with the kids on the street:  Kyle, Chloe, Daniel, Jack;  they're all older than me.  I ride my scooter with them, and on Sunday we drew chalk pictures on the pavement.  Sometimes I go over to Kostek's house to play;  he's almost 3 and his mummy makes really good snacks.  I also go to Eileen's house for good snacks.  She's 85 and goes to the shop to buy me breadsticks.

My favourite thing to play is cars, but I also love board games and books.  I also like playing with blocks and legos.  My favourite colour is still black, and my favourite movie is Mary Poppins but I like lots of other movies too.  I love to listen to CDs and sing songs.  I know a lot of songs from school, and from CDs and from movies.

My daddy goes to work a lot and I miss him when he's gone.  I ask my mummy when he's coming back and what day he has off.  Sometimes my dad has a day off and he takes me to school.  I usually see him in bed, though;  I like to wake up in the night and sneak into my mummy and daddy's bed.  It's cozy in there.

I had a birthday and I got to open lots of presents and eat cheesecake with plums and cream.  Then the next week I went to my friend Ignacy's birthday party at a playground inside a big building and I climbed and slid and ran and ate cake there.  It was so great.  I ask my mummy whose birthday it is next;  birthdays are so much fun.

Thirty three months two weeks

Hello world!

In the morning when I get up, I go to my mummy's room and hop into her bed and tell her, "hugs."  We have a snuggle for a little while, and then we get up.  I get my clothes from my dresser and we both get dressed, then I say, "downstairs, breakfast eggs!"  I eat eggs almost every morning.  Sometimes I ask for "two yolks" but mostly I eat them like an omelette.  I also love bacon and sausages but I don't eat them every day.

I'm really good at having my photo taken.  I like it a lot.  My mummy says, let me take your picture right here, and so I hold still and look at the camera.  When she goes behind me, I turn around so she can see me.  I also find things for her to take pictures of, like books and cars. 

I have a little cough and snot, but it's not too bad.  I keep a hanky in my pocket so I can blow my own nose.  Except I don't really blow, just sort of sniff and wipe. 

We have a Christmas tree with lights.  I get to turn on the lights.  I'm very careful.  We went for a drive when it was dark and saw lots of lights.  I yelled, "Christmas lights!  Loads of Christmas lights!"  I got a Christmas card from my neighbour Eileen.  I told my mummy it had a "snowman, Christmas tree, star, Christmas man."  My mummy said his name is Santa, so now I say, "Christmas man Santa."

Thirty two months four weeks

Hello world!

I took my yellow car to bed with me for a nap.  When I got up, I asked my mama where it was, but then I remembered.  I ran back upstairs and got my yellow car, and I told my mama, "yellow car sleeping.  Yellow car woke up."

I like to help my mama turn pages in books and newspapers.  Sometimes I can't wait for her to finish reading, and I turn the page.  I also still like to read books by myself.  I sit on the floor and read all the pages. 

I know how to play hide and seek.  I play with my mama and daddy.  My daddy counted and me and my mama hid behind the sofa.  My daddy looked in all the wrong places for us--it was so funny I couldn't help giggling, and he found us!  Then my mama counted while my dad hid, and we went looking for him.  He wasn't hiding behind the sofa, or in the kitchen;  he was in the closet!  I like to play hide and seek with my mama;  when she was cooking, I hid behind the table, and called out, "where Franklin gone?"  My mama didn't know so I popped out and yelled, "Here he is!"

I sat on the potty to pee and instead of going in the potty like usual, it went flying across the room.  I wiped it up with a cloth.  The next day, I reminded my mama, "wee-wee jump out of potty!"

I think my favourite show to watch is Arthur.  I watch it sometimes with my mama, and I sing along with the end of the song: "hey!"  I say, "hey, DW!"  I call her "Dee-duboo".  Then Arthur says whoa, and I say, "Arthur fell down!"  I love that part.

Thirty two months three weeks

Hello world!

I call broccoli "green trees," and cauliflower is "white trees."   I know their real names too.  Sometimes I like to play a game with my dad, naming things.  I say, "count again!" and then we name things like "table," "tablecloth," "placemat," and "cup."  This week I learned how to say the "Sp" sound;  I said "spoon," not "soon."

My dad stayed home instead of going to work.  I get to spend all day with him when he's home.  He gets up with me in the morning, helps me get dressed and eat, and we hang out.  When my dad says, "mummy does it for you," I say, "daddy helps!"  And then he helps me with my coat or the carseat.  My mama only helps me if my dad's not there.

I ran in laughing to my mama, and told her "doggy funny mouth!"  Our dog's lip was curled up and her tooth poked out.  It was hilarious!

I got to eat turkey and pumpkin pie with lots of cream.  Mostly I just ate the cream.

Thirty two months two weeks

Hello world!

My dad fixed his computer and then turned it on.  I was so excited, I danced around yelling, "blue light on!  Hooray!"  I told my mama that fireworks were "noisy stars in sky."  I watched them out the window.  I also worked out about numbers;  after nine comes ten and eleven, so after nineteen comes tenteen and eleventeen.  Something else I really like is the jingle on the radio;  I sing along: "BBC Radio Two."

I talked to my gramma on the computer again and I read her two books.  I read about daddy bears, baby bears, ducks, trees, swings, and bed.  My gramma really liked my stories.  I also ran downstairs and brought up as many toys as I could carry to show her.  I carried five toys upstairs all at once. 

I think my favourite foods are carrots, cheese, grapes, and olives.  When it's dinner time I always eat the meat first, then the vegetables.  I really like vegetables from the garden;  there's still a couple beans and peas in the garden to eat, but I ate all the carrots.  We need to grow more so I can pull them up and eat them.  And I ate all the apples my mama picked for me.  She made some into juice too, and I drank it. 

My dad has a special purple pen.  It never washes off.  I drew on the bed with it.

Thirty two months one week

Hello world!

My best words this week are "pumpkin," "trouble," "scarf," and "sick."

I helped my mama carve a pumpkin.  We made a scary man with a candle in it.  I called it "man pumpkin squash."  Then my dad cooked it into soup and I ate it all. 

I told my dad today, "mummy make socks toes.  Thank you mummy!"  My stripey woolly socks have brand new toes.  I also said to my mama, "man make letters.  Good job man!"  when I picked up the mail from the slot. 

When it's time to do something, I tell my mama.  She says, what do we do next? and then I say, "get dressed!" or "sleepytime nap!"  Sometimes I don't want to say it, though, and I lay on the floor and say, "meh."

Thirty one months four weeks

Hello world!

My best words this week are "magnet," "gloves," "kitchen," and "tuna."  Sometimes I say my words backwards, like "cayron" and "bicsit" instead of crayon and biscuit.

I went to a party with my mama with lots of kids and balloons and treats.  It was so much fun!  I brought some cars to share and I got to share other kids' toys too.  My mama made a cake and I got to eat it at the party. 

I have new mittens to keep my hands warm.  I can even eat apples with mittens on.  To put them on, I poke my thumbs in, then I poke them out;   it's hard keeping thumbs in the right place.

But last night I woke up and puked all over my bed.  It was really yucky.  I puked so many times.  My mama came when she heard me yelling and she asked why my arm was wet.  I said, "cough on arm."  So she knew what happened.  Today I feel a little better, but pretty tired from all that puking.

Thirty one months three weeks

Hello world!

My best words this week are "oh dear," "magazine," "string," and "stripey." 

I woke up twice this week and needed the potty.  I took off my jammies all by myself and used it.  Then I woke my mama up and told her, "bum wipe!"  She was really happy to wake up and wipe my bum. 

I have a neighbour named Eileen.  I like to visit her and play with her toys.  When we walk by her house, I ask my mama if we can see her.  One time we picked plums for her on our walk, and I like to remind my mama when we walk past the tree.  I also have a neighbour named Zak.  He goes to school but I got to watch him play a computer game when my mama talked to his mama.  I tell my mama about Zak's car.  I say, "Zak's mummy drive car.  Zak's car gone."

I'm so good at tidying up now.  I put away my toys before I get out my books.  Then I put away books before I get out toys.  I lined up my little bears on the piano.  I pushed them on the floor;  my mama said, where do bears go?  I said, "bears sleeping on floor."  I also know where to draw now.  Not on the walls or the floor or the chair or the piano.  I draw on paper!

Sometimes I like to ask my mama and daddy one thing lots of times.  I say it over and over again.  If I ask enough times they might say yes, I think.  My dad does sometimes.
